Waterfront Safety Task Force

The Lake Superior shoreline may be freezing over or close to it, but that doesn’t mean Marquette’s Waterfront Safety Task Force has stopped working.

They’re meeting again right now in City Hall in an attempt to make the waterfront more secure.

Anyone interested is welcome to attend.

Our Kristina Kuestner is there and she’ll have more about it tonight at 10 and 11.

During this past summer, four people drowned off Marquette’s shoreline, prompting the city to institute a warning flag system for swimmers at Picnic Rocks.

All proposed solutions will be discussed in-depth by the task force during future meetings.

If you can’t make tonight’s meeting, you can contact the Marquette Fire Chief Tom Belt at the main fire hall on South Third Street.
