Waterfall Week makes a big splash in Marquette County

Marquette County’s inaugural “Waterfall Week” was a splash success for everyone involved.

The Marquette County Visitor and Convention Bureau and all of the participating breweries were hoping for a big turnout, but winter’s malaise looked like it might dampen the mood. Luckily, a mild heat wave was enough motivation to get people out and about.

Waterfall Week appears to be a mainstay at the end of April for years to come

The Ore Dock Brewing Company saw a huge spike in business thanks to the waterfall experience, and even some fresh faces.

“The outcome was amazing. I was really impressed with the people who came from all over. There was people I had never seen come into our business, which was obviously a promotion we had strived for, but to see the uptick was amazing. We had everyone from couples and families, groups of women, groups of men. We even had several older couples that came in and had actually printed their pictures off. They were very excited to show me,” noted Anjila Holland, the associate general manger at Ore Dock Brewing Company.

“Everyone had really great comments. People were sending pictures. It really turned out amazing,” added Alison Silk of the Marquette County Visitor and Convention Bureau.

The Geocaching Scavenger Hunt was another big hit for the event. Those who ventured to the seven featured falls, and were able to figure out the riddle, were entered into the prize drawing.

The winners were drawn at random this afternoon inside Switchback Gear Exchange and we have the results:

Troy and Lisa Mattson won T–Shirts from all of the participating pubs.

Sue Negri netted a Switchback Gear Exchange gift card.

And Amanda Blondeau now has $200 towards the hotel or motel of her choosing in Marquette County.

Congratulations to everyone who took in the views and brews. If you missed out on the action, don’t worry. Plans for next year’s Waterfall Week are already underway, with commemorative pints and a possible kickoff party to boot.
