An apparent water main break in Ishpeming has shut down a part of North Second Street.

The Ishpeming Department of Public Works says it got the call about the water at around 2:00 p.m. A 12-inch water main break appears to be behind the large amount of water flooding North Second Street near US-41. Work crews will not know the full extent of the damage or the estimated time to complete a fix until they’re able to dig. DPW crews are awaiting markings from other companies with buried utilities before they dig out the main.

At the moment, no residents are without water, but the repair will likely necessitate turning off water to some customers.
