Murder suspect caught in Gogebic Co.

An Ironwood Township man was arrested Friday on a First Degree Murder charge.

Troopers from the Michigan State Police-Wakefield Post say they were asked to assist the United States Marshalls Service, Western District of Michigan, with finding the wanted fugitive.

A First Degree Murder warrant for the 20-year-old man was issued out of the State of Louisiana and the City of Baton Rouge.

Troopers accompanied the U.S. Marshalls to a residence in Ironwood Township and arrested the suspect. He was taken into custody without incident.

The man is lodged in the Ontonagon County Jail, pending extradition.

The U.S. Marshalls, Ironwood Public Safety Department and the Ontonagon County Sheriff’s Department assisted at the scene.
