Vollwerth’s Sausage Company unveils new Michigan sauce

A long time Hancock business introduced a new product to their line earlier today. Now shoppers at local Pat’s Foods markets can stock up on Vollwerth’s Sausage Company’s new Michigan sauce.

Customers stopped by to get a taste of the new concoction, which bears the company’s name. Vollwerth President Adam Manderfield says after being in business for so long, a shake up was needed.

“We’re actually currently in our 100th year of business and sometimes it’s easy when you’re 100 years old to get stagnant and do the same thing over and over, so something that’s important to us is coming up with new products,” he said.

The sauce was created to go together with Vollwerth’s bun length natural casing weiner. Manderfield says the sauce went through a rigorous process before it was made available to the public.

“We did many test batches. Any time you introduce a new product to the market, you want to make sure that it’s a good product, a quality product. Quality is what we’re known for here at Vollwerth’s and we wanted to make sure that we stayed with that tradition,” he said.

The sauce is also available as a chili without beans. Vollwerth’s Michigan sauce can now be found at a number of local grocery stores.
