VFW robbery suspect out on bond

SOUTH RANGE — A South Range woman suspected in a VFW robbery is now out on bond. ABC 10’s Rick Allen explains why.

One of the suspects accused of robbing the Range Lounge in South Range last December is no longer in jail. The bond for 36–year–old Sasha Anderson was reduced in Houghton County Circuit Court from $5,000 cash to a $10,000 Personal Recognizance bond.

A second suspect in the robbery, 36–year–old Clinton Jarriel, is still being sought by police.

Anderson’s attorney, David Gemignani requested the bond amended so that she can receive specialized prenatal care. She is expected to undergo a cesarean next month when she gives birth.

Prosecutor Michael Makinen had no objections saying they no longer believe Anderson to be a flight risk given her condition. Judge Charles Goodman laid out some specific guidelines to the bond, including a 6pm curfew and daily drug and alcohol testing.

A trial will be scheduled four to six weeks after her baby is born with a final pretrial leading up to it.
