MARQUETTE, Mich.—United States Olympic Education Center weightlifter Breanne Carlson lifted personal records today at the World University Championships in Eilat, Israel.

Carlson of Peshtigo, Wis., who competed in the 58-kilogram weight class, finished the event in sixth place with a 149 kg total.

She completed all three snatch lifts, topping her personal record by 4 kg with a 67 kg lift. In the clean and jerk, Carlson exceeded her personal record by 1 kg with an 82- kg lift.

Carlson, who has only been in the sport for four years, impressed Coach Vance Newgard with her performance.

“This was Breanne’s first international event,” said Newgard. “I’m proud of the way she handled the pressure of competing internationally.”
