ISHPEMING — It’s the time of year once again where the Upper Peninsula attempts to do its best impression of frozen tundra.

Snow arrived in the U.P. early Friday morning. The National Weather Service only saw a trace of snow at its Negaunee Township office, and the heaviest snowfall of about a tenth of an inch was reported in Champion – but this is only the beginning.

Areas near Munising could see one to three inches Friday night.
