UPGA Tournament: Markell leads by one
GLADSTONE – Iron Mountain’s Jim Markell fired a 68 (-4) to take the lead after the first round of the Upper Peninsula Golf Association (UPGA) Tournament. Markell shot a 37 on the front nine and a 31 on the back nine. He finished the day with a pair of eagles.
Markell leads Larry Bratonia, Joe Quinn, and Chadd Wester by one shot heading into round two. The UPGA is celebrating its 100th annual tournament. The Gladstone Golf Club is the site of this year’s tournament.
