Update: smoke in U.P. from Canadian fires

Large amounts of smoke are being reported across the western and central
Upper Peninsula of Michigan today.  This has been confirmed as originating from
a forest fire in Ontario, Canada.

The National Weather Service from Marquette confirmed the smoke is aloft
over Lake Superior and will continue to move south across most of the
western and central upper Michigan this afternoon.

This layer of smoke may cause reduced visibility at times in some areas.  An airplane from the Michigan DNR has been sent into the area to further check areas affected
by the smoke.
