UPDATE: Meth arrests in Ironwood

The Gogebic Iron Area Narcotics Team has released new information about Wednesday’s meth lab busts in Ironwood.

GIANT says they carried out the first search warrant at 228 West Ayer Street, Apartment #1, at about 8:30 p.m. Central time.

Officers found an active meth lab in the apartment.

The second bust took place at 229 South Mansfield Street at about 2:30 this morning.

Police say they found evidence of prior meth cooking efforts in that home.

GIANT called in the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team to help clean up both locations.

The three arrested suspects are 53-year-old Tina Marie Rappley, 52-year-old Gerald John Abramson and 43-year-old Michelle Lee Kitto, all of Ironwood.

Rappley is facing seven counts of operating or maintaining a meth lab, and one count each of delivery or manufacture of meth or ecstasy, operating or maintaining a drug lab in the presence of a minor, operating a drug lab near specified places and possession of meth or ecstasy.

Abramson is accused of two counts of operating or maintaining a drug lab near specified places and one count each of operating or maintaining a meth lab, operating or maintaining a drug lab involving a firearm or other harmful device,  operating or maintaining a drug lab in the presence of a minor, possession of meth or ecstasy and delivery or manufacture of marijuana.

Kitto is charged with five counts of operating or maintaining a meth lab and one count of operating or maintaining a drug lab in the presence of a minor.

All three suspects are being held in the Gogebic County Jail on $200,000 bond each.

GIANT says that the investigation is still active and that additional arrests are probable.
