UPAWS adopt-a-thon a success

The Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter held one of its biggest adoption promotions Thursday.

In an event put on by Charter Media and Fox Marquette, UPAWS had an adoption fair.  People were able to look at dozens of pets in need of a home, and thanks to Fox Marquette, all of the adoption rates were free.

“It’s a wonderful event, it’s our largest adopt-a-thon of the year, and it’s a hit,” Board Vice President of UPAWS Ann Brownell said.  “We’re so happy the community supports us, and Fox and Charter…we’re very greatful.”

“Fox Marquette paying for all the adoptions is so generous and and we’re so very very greatful and greatful to Charter.”

The adoption fair could not have been successful without support from the community.

“Our community and businesses, and the support we get from the community is outstanding,” Brownell said.  “We’re a no kill shelter, and we have a 100% save rate.  It’s because of the backing we get from businesses, the community, and the media.  We’re extremely greatful, we couldn’t do it without you.”

UPAWS has their next event on September 7, Strut Your Mutt at Mattson Lower Harbor Park in Marquette.
