UP Sled Dog Race Festivities

Even old man winter or lack their of, couldn’t put a stop to one of the biggest winter sporting weekends in Marquette County. The UP 200 sled dog races have finally arrived.

Competitors and their families gathered together for the Sled Dog Association’s pre-race Banquet and bib draw. This year mark’s the 23rd running of the UP 200. It will also be the first year that Midnight Run teams will take off from the downtown area instead of UP 200 teams.

And while the spectators will still get to enjoy the hustle and bustle of the downtown start, it’s the dogs that are in for a real treat. The UP 200 will begin at 8pm tomorrow night in Chatham.

And the Midnight Run will start at 7:10 in front of the Mining Journal on Washington Street in Marquette. The mushers will have the official re–start at 10 o’clock in Chatham.
