UP Health System Marquette imposes visitor restrictions

MARQUETTE — UP Health System Marquette now has visitor restrictions in place to protect patients and employees from the flu.

Health system staff are asking anyone with flu symptoms like fever, chills, body aches, fatigue, coughing, a sore throat, a runny nose, vomiting or diarrhea to stay home and not visit patients.

Only two visitors are allowed per patient. The visitors are limited to immediate family, the patient’s significant other and the patient’s advocate. Visiting hours are from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Children under 14 are not allowed to enter any health system buildings unless it’s for an appointment or an emergency room visit.

Only parents are allowed to visit the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and only grandparents and labor coaches are allowed to visit the Family Birthing Center.

The restrictions will be in effect until further notice.
