MARQUETTE — A local craniofacial surgeon has just accepted a nomination for a national committee. ABC 10’s Sarah Mac has more on his new position and his future goals.

Dr. Frank Farbod’s titles and credentials can be quite a mouthful. You could say it comes with the job and his new position on a national committee. Dr. Frank Farbod, of The Advanced Oral Surgery & Dental Implant Center and Facial Surgery Institute in Marquette, was nominated and selected to serve on the national Committee for Cleft, Craniofacial, and Pediatric Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery by the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.

Whew!

Dr. Farbod says, “The committee basically convenes and promotes national and international awareness about craniofacial and cleft anomalies. We also put together education programs and continued education for craniofacial and cleft surgeons around the country and at the international level.”

Dr. Farbod’s work is very diverse. He specializes in varied categories from face lifts to dental implants, and from oral surgery to cleft palates.

According to one his employees that’s where his passion is, she says he as a soft spot for working with patients with cleft palates. His new position on the committee came after a national nomination and vote. He says his goal during his three-year term is to raise the bar.

“My goal is to promote more awareness and provide more funding for research as far as cleft and craniofacial surgery is concerned,” Dr. Farbod added, “and come up with better standards than we have today.”
