Unemployment rate drops in the U.P.

LANSING — The seasonally unadjusted unemployment rate in the Upper Peninsula has decreased from 6.6% to 6.4% for the month of September.

Mackinac County has the lowest unemployment rate in the Upper Peninsula and the state at 3.2%; Ontonagon County’s unemployment rate of 9.4% is the highest in the U.P.

In September 2013, the U.P.’s unemployment rate was 8.2%.

The Department of Technology, Management, and Budget released unemployment rates Thursday.  The state’s unemployment rate remained unchanged at 6.7%.
