U.P. Wolf Hunt tally reaches 11

The Department of Natural Resources now says 11 wolves have been killed in the U.P. Wolf Hunt that opened November 15.

An additional wolf was killed Sunday in Wolf Management Unit A in Gogebic County, bringing the total in that zone to four.

Six wolves have been taken in Unit B. That unit spans portions of Gogebic, Baraga, Houghton and Ontonagon Counties.

Unit C covers portions of Luce and Mackinac Counties, and Michigan DNR officials say one wolf has been killed there.

A total of only 43 wolves can be harvested during the hunting season, which is only in effect in those three areas. The wolf season will continue until New Year’s Eve or until the 43-wolf limit is reached, whichever comes first.
