U.P. students attend Industrial Career Day
Hundreds of high school students from across the Upper Peninsula were able to get some hands–on experience Thursday as they learned about many different industrial trades.
The number of construction jobs is expected to grow in the next few years.
The goal of Industrial Trade Career Day is to have students be aware of a wide–range of job opportunities they can pursue after high school. More that 400 students attended the event in Escanaba.
Across the country, many workers are retiring from the trades such as welding, carpentry, iron works, and building construction.
Exposing high schoolers to these jobs may provide a career track for them.
Future talent development partners, who strive to solve the workforce supply and demand issues, take on activities like the Industrial Trade Career Day.
