U.P. not experiencing propane shortage

Governor Rick Snyder declared a State of Energy Emergency in Michigan on Friday, but the emergency is not affecting the U.P.

The main propane wholesaler in the U.P. in Rapid River was a down a few days for maintenance.  Some trucks would have had to go to Wisconsin to fill up instead. Trucks at Ferrell Gas in Negaunee were able to still fill up in Rapid River.

Part of the issue was that trucks had to wait three to four hours longer to fill up in Rapid River than usual.  Don Steckman, the Service Central General Manger of Ferrell Gas, said that even though there have been some cold spells this winter, he has not seen an increase in the use of propane in the U.P.
