U.P. & Northern Wisconsin Economic Lift

The U.S. Department of Labor is trying to help the U.P. economy grow.

Every county in the U.P., and a pair of counties in Wisconsin that border the U.P., has just gotten a grant to help the 2 regions.

The plan has been discussed since last year, but the official kickoff meeting was today at the Marquette Holiday Inn.

A committee of people from all over the 17 counties came together to talk about strengths and weaknesses of the entire area.

Although the struggling economy has personally affected most people in the area in some way, the committee believes the plan will help the U.P. and northern Wisconsin rebound better than ever.

The committee will hold town hall meetings in the future to gather community input and participation.
