U.P. native is ready to Challenge Detroit

ISHPEMING — One U.P. resident is in the semi-finals for becoming a fellow in Challenge Detroit. The goal of the non-profit organization is to bring young professionals from all over the country to improve the city of Detroit.

Ishpeming native, Eric Laksonen is one of the 175 finalists left in a group that will be narrowed down to 35. Eric is a United States Air Force Combat veteran that takes pride in hard work ethic and kindness towards others.

“For the Challenge Detroit fellowship I really want to bring the Yooper sense of community down there and friendliness. I think that really helps bring a city together,” said Challenge Detroit Finalist Eric Laksonen.

At this time, Eric is currently in seventh place in voting, but he doesn’t think that he deserves all the credit for his success so far.

“I just want to say thank you to everyone that’s taken the time to like, share, and vote for my video. I really appreciate it.”

Voting for this round ends on Sunday. To watch Eric’s submission video and vote for him to move forward in Challenge Detroit, click here
