Man who fled police in high-speed pursuit appears in court
IRON RIVER — Is Tyler Roy Polich, a danger to the Iron River community? According to Judge C. Joseph Schwedler, that’s exactly what Tyler is.
A preliminary hearing took place on August second at the Iron County Court House. Tyler Roy Polich, 20, was charged with felony second degree fleeing an officer, causing injury to 19-old Seth Stoychoff.
Authorities said that Stoychoff left the still-moving vehicle during the high speed pursuit that occurred early morning on June 20th, after officers tried to pull the vehicle over around 1:00 a.m., triggering the pursuit.
“The vehicle did not stop, it actually accelerated,” said DNR Officer, Jason Wicklund. “I called out dispatch, that I was in pursuit of a vehicle, gave the description and location, activated my sirens and proceeded to pursue the vehicle.”
A pursuit that broke off, when Stoychoff, came out of the still moving vehicle. Officers stopped to assist Stoychoff who was later admitted to U.P. Health Systems – Marquette, listed in critical condition.
Wicklund stated, “The suspect vehicle continued on at a high rate of speed, disregarding the stop sign on 189 and took a right heading towards Wisconsin.”
Judge C. Joesph Schwedler set the matter for arraignment on August 22nd.
