ONTONAGON — One person was sent to the hospital with minor injuries after a two-car crash in Ontonagon Tuesday morning.

Ontonagon County Sheriff Dale Rantala reports that the incident happened shortly after 9:30 a.m. at the intersection of M-64 and US-45. Fay Groitzsch of Bruce Crossing was traveling west on M-64 when she attempted to turn left onto US-45. Another driver, George Domitrovich of Onotonagon, was heading east when he noticed Groitzsch making the left turn. He attempted to avoid hitting her vehicle, but he was unable to do so.

Both vehicles were extensively damaged in the resulting collision and had to be towed from the scene. A passenger in Domitrovich’s vehicle was transported by Sonco Ambulance to Aspirus Ontonagon for treatment of minor injuries.

The Ontonagon Village Fire Department and Aspirus MedEvac also assisted at the scene.
