UPDATE: Two injured in accident at intersection
UPDATE — 1:40 p.m. July 30, 2015 (EDT)
The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office has released more information on this morning’s accident in Marquette Township.
Deputies say 61-year-old Mary Wesler of Marquette was traveling east on US-41 in her 2015 Chevrolet Cruze when she drove through a red light at the intersection of US-41 and Commerce Drive, crashing into the 2002 Buick LeSabre of 40-year-old Wendy Larson of Negaunee.
Wesler was transported to UP Health System – Marquette for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. A juvenile passenger in Larson’s vehicle suffered a minor injury to his shoulder area from a child restraint, but he did not seek medical attention.
Police say Wesler was cited for disregarding a traffic control device. Everyone involved in the accident was wearing a safety belt. Alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP — A two-car accident slowed down traffic this morning in Marquette Township.
Just before 10 a.m., two vehicles collided at the intersection of Commerce Drive and US-41. Both vehicles, a Chevy sedan and a Buick sedan, sustained severe front-end damage. Injuries are unknown at this time.
The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office, Marquette Township Fire Department, and U.P. Health System – Marquette EMS were all on scene.
