Two arrested after UPSET investigation

UPDATE — 3:00 p.m., March 30th, 2016  (EDT)

Two Marquette County residents are in jail after an investigation conducted by the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team.

Thirty–nine year old Thomas Field and 39-year-old Starlene Bartol were both arrested by the Marquette County Police Department during a traffic stop on Monday. During their search, police found meth making components in their vehicle.

Both Field and Bartol face multiple drug charges, including conspiracy to deliver or manufacture meth and operating a meth lab.

They have preliminary exams scheduled in Marquette County District Court for April 18th.

Detectives were alerted that the two individuals had purchased components used to manufacture meth and contacted Marquette City Police officials who conducted a traffic stop on the suspect’s vehicle. Meth making components were found during a search of the suspects and their vehicle. The subjects were arrested for conspiracy to manufacture meth.

The two individuals were lodged in the Marquette County Jail. We’ll provide the names of the suspects after they are arraigned.
