The Marquette residents arrested after an alleged assault Monday night were arraigned in Marquette County District Court this morning.
Twenty-six year old Ebonie Burns is charged with one count of felonious assault, which is punishable by up to four years in prison. She is also facing a misdemeanor for possession of marijuana. Thirty-eight-year old Kowayne Burns is charged with one count of felonious assault as well. Ebonie is in jail on a $75,000 cash or surety bond. Kowayne’s is jailed on a $100,000 bond.
The two were arrested by Marquette City Police after investigation into an assault at a parking lot on West Washington Street. Both are scheduled to appear for a preliminary exam on April 4th.
MARQUETTE — Two Marquette residents were arrested after an alleged assault in a parking lot on Monday night.
Marquette City Police say 38-year-old Kowayne Burns and 26-year-old Ebonie Burns were arrested after the investigation into an assault complaint at the parking lot on the 900 block of West Washington Street. The incident happened shortly after 10:00 p.m. Both the suspects and victims had fled the area when police arrived, but they were soon located. Police learned that the victims had been assaulted by the two suspects with a pool cue and a makeshift bat. The victims were treated and released by UP Health System EMS for injuries sustained in the attack.
Kowayne was arrested on the count of felonious assault, while Eboine was arrested for two. Both suspects are lodged in the Marquette County Jail awaiting arraignment.
