MARQUETTE — Just like a good spring cleaning is good for your home, a quick spring tune-up is good for your bike. Sports Rack in Marquette is one of the many local bike shops that can help you stay safe while riding your bike this season.

“I would say that spring tune-ups for bikes is a pretty important thing to take into consideration before you start your summer cycling,” said bike technician Neil Washburn, “like anything else that you buy like cars, boats, they require routine maintenance to make sure they stay in top running order and safe to be upon.”

While a typical inspection is a very quick process, the sooner you bring in your bike, the better.

“It’s definitely important to make sure that you get your bike in early in the season,” Washburn continued, “the earlier you get it in to the bike shops the better because there isn’t much of a rush or a backlog and you can get your bike back sooner.”

If you cannot bring your bike into a shop, it is recommended to do a visual inspection of your tires and chain.
