NORWAY TOWNSHIP — No one was injured after a train derailed in Norway Township Wednesday evening.

Michigan State Police troopers from the Iron Mountain post say they responded to the derailment located near Sturgeon Mill Road shortly before 8:30 p.m. The investigation determined that ten of the 29 railcars attached to the engine of a Canadian National Railway Company train had derailed.

The cause of the derailment has yet to be determined. Police say there were no injuries, the railcars were reported empty, and no materials were spilled.

Train derailment specialists have been called to the scene. Michigan State Police were assisted by the Norway Fire Department and the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Department.
