Trailer fire extinguished before it could spread to home

Officers from the Gladstone Public Safety Department and the Gladstone Volunteer Fire Department responded to a reported trailer fire early Tuesday morning.

Officials say it happened just after 7:00 a.m. at 525 Dakota Avenue. Firefighters were able to extinguish the flames quickly and prevent any spread from the trailer to the home. The utility trailer was saved and the exterior of the home received minor damage.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but it is believed to have originated in the utility trailer, which used to hold scrap building material for a house being repaired nearby.
