Three injured in one-vehicle accident

LAIRD TOWNSHIP — Four people were injured in a one-car accident Saturday afternoon in Houghton County.

Just after 3:00 p.m., the Houghton County Sheriff’s Department responded to the intersection of M-38 and North Laird Heights Road in Laird Township. A 24-year-old Ann Arbor man was driving east on M-38 when he lost control of his vehicle.

The man’s vehicle collided with a parked car in a nearby yard. Both vehicles were severely damaged according to police.

All four people inside the vehicle were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash. Three people in the car were taken to the hospital. Two people were treated at Baraga County Memorial Hospital. Another one of the injured people was taken to UP Health System – Marquette. Their status is unknown at this time.

Speed and alcohol are not believed to be factors in the crash.
