Three arrested after high speed chase

Two men and a juvenile girl from western lower Michigan have been arrested in Mackinac County after taking police on a high speed chase in a stolen vehicle.

They are charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, attempting to flee and elude police, reckless driving, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

It started with a drive-off from a gas station in Naubinway just after 8 this morning.  Mackinac County authorizes spotted the vehicle driving westbound on U.S. 2 near Gould City ten minutes later.  The vehicle initially stopped for police, but then sped away.

The suspects’ car was clocked at speeds of more than 100 miles per hour for about 11 miles.  That’s when the vehicle crashed at a ‘T’ intersection.

A deputy immediately arrested the driver, but two passengers fled in the woods.  The passengers were arrested a short time later with help from the Michigan State Police K–9 Unit and additional Sheriff’s Deputies.

Names will not be released until arraignments have been conducted.
