Three arraigned on marijuana charge after bust in Bruce Crossing

ONTONAGON — The three suspects arrested during a drug bust in Bruce Crossing Wednesday have been arraigned in Ontonagon County District Court.

62-year old Robert Johnson, Sr., 47-year-old Michael Jacob Lehto, both from Bruce Crossing, and 32-year-old Shaun Comes of Watersmeet were all charged with controlled substance – delivery/manufacture of 45 kilograms of marijuana. This charge is a felony with a maximum penalty of 15 years imprisonment or up to $10 million in fines.

The charges stem from a search warrant executed by the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team that turned up 130 marijuana plants, over $6,000 in cash, a firearm, processed marijuana, suspected hemp oil, and illegal psychedelic mushrooms.

Dates for preliminary examination in District Court have not yet been set. Johnson is being held on a $500,000 cash or 10% surety bond, while both Lehto and Comes are being held on a $50,000 dollar cash or 10% surety bond.
