BARAGA — There’s a new sheriff in town!

Officials in Baraga County met this morning to appoint a replacement for Robert J. Teddy. A vacancy was created when Teddy retired from the position. Probate Judge Timothy Brennan, County Clerk Wendy Goodreau and Prosecuting Attorney Joseph O’Leary made the choice between two candidates. According to them, both candidates were highly qualified, but in the end, the final choice was Undersheriff Rick Johnson.

Johnson will serve as sheriff until the end of 2016 at which point a Sheriff will be chosen by election.
