The showdown must go on

MARQUETTE — Due to high temperatures and rain, the Downtown Showdown Rail Jam in Marquette is postponed until next year. But ski and snowboard lovers will still have a chance to get their fix this Saturday.

The Marquette Mountain Double Down Compound Showdown will be filled with music, entertainment, and plenty of opportunities for skiing and snowboarding. Marquette Mountain will be offering discounted lift tickets to help make this an event for everyone.

“Registration is only $10 for all–ages to compete,” said The Compound Ski Shop Owner Brandon Croney, “at 3 o’clock we invite anybody of all ages to come out and try the course and practice for the open jam. 5 p.m. will be the skier contest, and 6 p.m. will be the snowboarder contest. At 7, the finals, with the awards at 8 down at the Red Bull booth, and then we’ll head inside after for the after party at the Ore Dock.”

Croney mentioned that this type of competition provides an opportunity for riders to show off all of their best tricks. The Downtown Showdown Rail Jam is expected to return on February 18th next year.
