Thanksgiving Dinner Costs

Feasting on a traditional Thanksgiving dinner won’t set you back much more than it did last year.

Turkey prices are climbing, driven by soaring feed costs, but grocery stores are eating some of costs associated with the rising prices.

Jubilee Foods Ishpeming store manager Dustin Gransinger says shoppers are looking for a deal when it comes to thanksgiving dinner, and turkeys are the season’s big loss leaders at the supermarket.

They’re selling for as little as 79 cents a pound.

Shoppers can find a variety of frozen name-brand turkeys alongside store brands.

The cost of the traditional turkey dinner with all the fixings for 10 will average $43.47, a 56–cent increase from last year according to the American Farm Bureau Federation.

A 16–pound turkey cost $17.66, a 99–cent drop according to the bureau’s informal price survey based on prices gathered from volunteer shoppers across the nation.
