Over 25 million americans are affected by rare disease’s and the surgeon general says there isn’t a better time to talk about family health issues than when your all together for the holidays.

Thanksgiving day is also recognized as National Family History Day.

There are many genetic diseases that affect generations of families, and knowing your family’s health history is the first step to ensuring a healthier future for yourself and for future generations.

Trisha Teal knows first hand the importance of talking with your family about health issues.
