Tons of tots were in attendance at the Carnegie Public Library in Ishpeming as story time took over the imagination of kids and adults.

Tot Tuesday is growing in popularity. Books, playtime, crafts and games are all apart of the allure. Despite the growing fascination of technology, a piece of old fashioned story telling seems to be something that can’t be replaced.

“I have parents who will suggest books that they remember when they were kids that they think will be good for story time, so sometimes I incorporate those.  People are really happy that there are things for them to do with their children in the area.  A place for them to go and also interact with other parents as well,” Children’s Librarian Heather Lander said.

Tots aren’t the only ones looking for the simplicity and the nostalgia of the library setting, so the library staff is incorporating programs for kids of all ages.

“We started doing tween and teen programs which we did not have before, the tweens were asking for more so we are trying to do at least two a month and they really seem to like that.  We also did a youth writing workshop which was really successful and we plan on doing another round of that in May,” Lander said.

The library is open everyday except on Sunday and Monday.
