Teenager killed in two-car accident
ST. IGNACE TOWNSHIP – A teenager is dead and one man is behind bars after a two-car accident early Saturday morning in St. Ignace Township.
The Mackinac County Sheriff’s Office says that the accident occurred around 12:45 a.m. on Mackinac Trail (H-63), about a mile south of M-123. A vehicle driven by a 17-year-old man from Brevort Township collided head-on with another vehicle driven by a 40-year-old St. Ignace man.
The teenager died as a result of the crash. The 40-year-old man was taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
He was then taken into custody for driving a motor vehicle while intoxicated. The man will stay in the Mackinac County Jail until he’s arraigned in District Court. His bond was set at $500,000.
The accident remains under investigation.
