Iron Mountain teen arrested for home invasion, armed robbery

SIMS, JACELINOne person has been arrested in connection with a home invasion and armed robbery that took place earlier this month in Iron Mountain.

17–year–old Jacelin Orian Sims of Iron Mountain has been arrested and charged with armed robbery, a felony offense punishable by up to life in prison; one count of conspiracy to commit armed robbery, which also carries a possible life sentence; and one count of accessory after the fact, a 5–year felony.

Sims is also facing several charges from unrelated cases. The teen is facing charges of larceny in a building, a 4–year felony; breaking and entering a vehicle with damage to the vehicle, a 5–year felony and possession of marijuana, a one year misdemeanor.

Sims is scheduled to appear in court for a preliminary examination on the felony charges on August 21 at 10 a.m.

The Iron Mountain Police Department says the robbery happened August 6 at about 12:30 a.m. at a residence in the 200 block of West Brown Street.  The man living at the house told police three subjects dressed in all black broke into his home and robbed him at knife point.

The suspects reportedly stole the victim’s medical marijuana and cash.  The victim attempted to resist the suspects and as a result, suffered non–life threatening injuries.

Police believe two additional suspects, a man and woman, are still at large. The Iron Mountain Police Department is asking anyone with information about the incident to call them at 906–774–1234.
