Tech Track and Field Wins Six Events in Duluth

DULUTH, Minn. – The Michigan Tech track and field teams won six events at the Twin Ports Triangular Tuesday (April 17).

Molly Wiltzius continued her improvement in the throwing events placing second in the shot put with a personal-best throw of 41-3.75 to break her own school record by nearly a foot. The Kingsford, Mich., native won the discus with the third-best throw in school history (138-8) and placed fifth in the hammer throw with the sixth-best throw in school history (140-10).

The Huskies won the first running event of the day, the women’s sprint medley (200-200-400-800), in a time of 4:24.62. Team members included Nicole Stark, Dani Brzeninski, Marie Metz and Amanda Halonen.

The men’s sprint medley team finished second in a time of 3:42.07. Team members included Quinn Parnell, Mike Merwin, Shawn Shove and Calvin Nitz. Christina Mishica was the only woman to run under five minutes in the 1,500 taking the win in 4:56.97.

Michael Leveille won the 100 (11.99), and Tylor Rathsack took home the win the 400 (51.04).

Ben Kalis won the 110-hurdles (15.62), and Jarred Berrymen won the shot put with a personal-best toss of 44-0.

Nathan Hood won the triple jump (45-9) and finished second in the long jump (20-3).

Ethan Miltenberger threw a personal-best by nearly 15 feet to finish second in the discus (140-4).

No teams were kept.

Both teams will compete at the Al Owens Classic hosted by Grand Valley State this weekend (April 19-20).
