Tanker Accident Halts US-41 Traffic
A tanker truck accident snags traffic on US-41 after the driver falls asleep at the wheel.
That’s what the Houghton County Sheriff’s Department says caused the accident a little before 7 this morning.
The truck driver was just south of Chassell at the time, heading north.
The tanker ended up hundreds of feet off the highway in some woods.
No one was hurt.
The truck also only sustained minor damage, and it didn’t spill any fuel.
It took deputies and Chassel volunteer firefighters about 3 hours to pump the fuel out of the truck and get it back on the road.
Traffic had to be stopped in both directions for almost half an hour as part of that.
