Man drowns at state park

HOUGHTON — A swimmer has been pronounced dead after becoming stranded at a park in Houghton County.

The Houghton County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a stranded swimmer at around 1:00 p.m. 49-year-old Andrew Kneeshaw of Grand Blanc had become stranded off the shore of McLain State Park. A nearby surfer was able to assist him back to shore and start CPR and officers continued performing CPR on shore.

Kneeshaw was transported to Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
