Summer job fair finds summer employment for students

MARQUETTE — It may not look like summer outside, but that didn’t stop Northern Michigan University from holding their Summer Job Fair today.

Around 100 employers attended the fair to talk with hundreds of students. What makes this job fair unique is it’s focus on summer employment, internships, and part–time jobs for students.

“If we can keep them in the local area they enjoy that obviously,” said Career Services Director Jim Gadzinski, “but also just to get them into the workforce, get those experiences that you learn outside of the classroom are very important. Then when they start looking for full–time employment they’re making some contacts, building those networks, all of those important things and picking up on those skills that they can graduate and step right into a job, and hit the ground running.”

The next opportunity like this that NMU will be hosting is the Upper Great Lakes Collegiate Job Fair on March 23rd.
