Students learn importance of saving money

Bankers across the country have been working to teach kids about the importance of saving in honor of  Tuesday’s Teach Children to Save Day.

Employees from Range Bank were doing that at Bothwell Middle School in Marquette, and at Lakeview Elementary School in Negaunee.

Bank officials were helping fourth and fifth graders develop the habit of saving money later in life.  They showed the difference between saving money in order to meet needs, as opposed to wants.  The kids also had a lesson on how interest works.

The American Bankers Association runs the Teach Children to Save program since 1997.  It has reached more than five million students across the country.
