Students get a look at Army aviation

MARQUETTE — Two soldiers from Fort Bragg, North Carolina will be visiting local schools throughout the week.

The soldiers are discussing the science, technology, engineering, and math that is used by the Army with the development of unmanned aerial vehicles. On Tuesday they spoke to aviation students at Northern Michigan University.

“We’re showing them the Raven UAV system,” said Sgt. Salmond with U.S. Army, “how it works, what it does, what it’s used for. Trying to show them the advancements in technology that the army uses and careers in the army and aviation.”

Sergeant Salmond said that so far the reception from students has been strong. Presentations will be given at other schools throughout Marquette, Alger, Delta, and Dickinson counties.
