Structural problem at Cinder Pond Marina boathouse

Marquette city employees are trying to determine what caused the foundation of the Cinder Pond Marina boathouse to shift slightly within the last few days.

Marquette facility manager Eric Stemen says city employees noticed a crack in one of the building’s walls Wednesday morning. He says that when they went inside to investigate, they traced the problem to the foundation. A portion of the foundation’s southwest corner had moved slightly.

City employees are removing furniture and other supplies from the boathouse for the time being. The building would normally still be closed for the season at this point anyway. There’s no word on when the issue might be resolved.
