Stepdaughter stabs stepfather, uncovers illegal grow operation

A sixty-four-year-old man was stabbed by his twenty-year-old stepdaughter in a Masonville Township residence late Wednesday night.

The incident took place around 11:00 p.m. and from the evidence and statements gathered, Michigan State Police believe it may have been a domestic violence situation in which the stepdaughter was acting in self-defense.

Troopers from the Gladstone Post of the Michigan State Police Department searched the home and found the weapon used in the stabbing, and in the process, they also discovered an illegal marijuana grow operation. An undisclosed amount of marijuana was then seized by Troopers on the scene.

The man was transported to OSF St. Francis Hospital where he received treatment for his wound. After being released from the hospital, he was placed in the Delta County Jail for Domestic Violence and Manufacturing of Marijuana.

ABC 10 will have more on this story as it unfolds.
