State Senator talks about nat’l debt

Members of the Marquette County Economic Club were able to learn more about the national debt Monday night.

State Senator Roger Kahn was the featured speaker at the club’s monthly dinner meeting.  He explained that the national debt needs to be controlled for future generations.  At the meeting Kahn was going to explain what the national debt is, how the debt is growing, what the county needs to do to stop the growing debt and how to control the debt.

Kahn said if nothing is done to the national debt, it will affect not only the country, but the state of Michigan.  It will affect how the state can educate children and the amount of money the state has to support state-level programs.

He encourages people who are concerned about the national debt to get in contact with senators, or any other elected official, at the state or national level.
