State of State Address Tonight

Michigan Governor Rick Snyder is expected to tout his accomplishments and admit his failures of his first year in office during Wednesday’s State of the State Address.

During 2011…Snyder, with the help of a Republican-dominated legislature, implemented a new tax structure, introduced an infrastructure plan, and passed a budget with months to spare.

Critics point out his failure to get a deal done to build a new bridge across the Detroit River and his emergency manager law is unpopular, at best.

The State’s unemployment rate is down, but so is the size of the workforce and people with college degrees continue to flee for greener pastures.

Snyder will likely focus on public safety as well as energy and environmental issues in a much less intensive agenda for 2012.
