State Job Growth Forecast

University of Michigan economists say Michigan will add more than 125,000 jobs by the end of 2012.

A previous state revenue forecast made in January was not as positive, expecting only 52,000 jobs for the period.

Job creation in Michigan has exceeded the national pace since 2009.

Michigan’s unemployment rate peaked at 14.1% two years ago.

Some areas of the U.P. continue to struggle.

In Baraga and Mackinac Counties, one of every four workers is unemployed.
